Answered prayer as Jammer Jamito gets big break at Meralco

FOR Jammer Jamito, playing for a lengthy period of time in Meralco’s game against Phoenix on Wednesday in the PBA Governors’ Cup was an answered prayer.

Seeing action for the first time in a Meralco jersey, Jamito played for 16 minutes in the Bolts’ 96-86 loss to the Fuel Masters on Friday and contributed eight points, four rebounds, and one block in the process.

Even though what was easily the best game in his two-year career led to a loss, Jamito was simply happy to make the most of his opportunity after spending most of his time with Ginebra on the bench.

Jamito was a second-round pick by Ginebra in the 2016 PBA draft but hardly saw action. He sat out the entire Commissioner’s Cup and played just three games in the Philippine Cup, posting a grand total of three points and four rebounds.

Jamito was picked up as an unrestricted free agent by Meralco shortly after Ginebra won the Commissioner’s Cup by beating San Miguel in the finals.

“Enjoy naman po,” said the 6-foot-5 Jamito when asked about his new team.

Following his splendid play against Phoenix, Jamito vowed to be ready in case his number is once again called.

Despite his limited playing time with Ginebra, Jamito said he will always be grateful to the Kings, who gave him the break in the PBA, and to the team’s legions of fans.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa sumusuporta sa akin at sa mga Ginebra fans, thank you po,” said Jamito.
