Best yet to come for improved GlobalPort offense in post-Terrence era, says Anthony

ANTIPOLO – Sean Anthony insisted GlobalPort can still have a better offensive flow despite already showing early signs of improvement in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

With the departure of high-scoring star Terrence Romeo expected to balance out their offense, the Batang Pier continued to show just that as four players scored in double figures in their 117-106 win over Blackwater on Wednesday night.

But Anthony, who was one of three GlobalPort players who the breached the 20-point barrier with a team-high 29 points, believes they can still draw more support from the rest of their teammates.

“Our offense is still not as spread out as much as we want to,” Anthony said. “For most of the successful teams, they have five or six guys in double figures every night so we still got a find a way to get everyone involved.”

“We’re gonna look to keep everyone involved,” he added.

The departure of Romeo has given Anthony more responsibility, willingly accepting it by flirting with a triple-double against the Elite as he completed his offensive effort with 13 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in 38 minutes.

The Filipino-Candian forward saved his best for last, scoring eight of the Batang Pier’s last 10 points to bring them home.

“Actually someone told me in the beginning of the fourth [about the near triple-double] but they (Blackwater) caught up so I looked to stay aggressive and I didn’t even focus on that,” Anthony said. “I just focused on doing what was needed to win.”

But what’s more important for him moving forward is for the Batang Pier to stay consistent in the post-Romeo era.

“We’re still finding a little bit of our identity, still getting used to playing with each other, still trying to figure out some lineups and what not,” Anthony said. “But for the most part, guys are all moving in the right direction, it’s looking pretty good.”
