Ginebra regains series lead with narrow win v TNT in tense Game 3
  • Hard to stop Rice: Rice erupted for 44 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.  He had the chance to send the game into overtime with 5 seconds to go, but the NBA veteran’s three-point attempt rimmed out that allowed Ginebra to escape with the win.
  • Game 3 hero: Joe Devance provided the heroics late in the game, scoring on a mid-range shot, and later, a big putback off a Troy Rosario turnover that gave Ginebra a 105-100 lead with 32.6 seconds left to play.  Although he missed a gimme layup later that allowed TNT to make one final attempt in the endgame, Ginebra coach Tim Cone described Devance as the game’s “hero”.
  • Testy game: Tension filled the game as early as the first half as TNT coach Nash Racela and Ginebra’s governor Alfrancis Chua engaged in a verbal altercation in the dying seconds of the second period. Both also exchanged words as both teams were heading to the dugout, before Cone pulled Chua back to the team’s dugout.
  • Big free-throw disparity: Ginebra went 30-of-43 from the foul line compared to TNT’s 12-of-14 with Rice going 8-of-8 from the stripe.
  • Ginebra bigs went to work: Devance led Ginebra with 20, including six points in the final 3 minutes of the game. Greg Slaughter came off the bench to provide 19 and 7 boards, while Brownlee and Scottie Thompson added 17 each. LA Tenorio had a near triple-double of 16 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.
  • Explosive Sunday: Ginebra can wrap up the series and advance to the Finals to arrange a rematch with Meralco with another victory this Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
