Jared Dillinger still uncertain on return for Meralco

JARED Dillinger is not likely yet to rejoin Meralco when it resumes its campaign in the PBA Governors Cup.

The veteran guard is still recuperating from a partial tear on his quad and a recent procedure to remove bone spurs on his right foot which kept him out of action in the season-ending conference.

It’s also the reason he failed to join the Bolts in Nonthaburi, Thailand for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

“I’m still trying to recover. Doctors said it should be a couple more of weeks,” said the 34-year-old Fil-Am. “I haven’t practiced. I haven’t done anything with basketball for five to six weeks now, so it will get some time getting back.”

Dillinger recalled suffering the injury during Meralco’s game against TnT Katropa during the Commissioner’s Cup or right before the quarterfinal series opposite Barangay Ginebra.

“And then I kept playing on it and it got worse,” he said.

While the Bolts were in Thailand, Dillinger continued his rehab together with fellow veteran Ranidel De Ocampo.

“Hopefully, we can get back in time just before the playoffs,” he said.

The Bolts had lost three in a row for a 1-3 record and will immediately plunge back into action upon their return as they tangle with surprising Blackwater Elite on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We haven’t really found our niche this conference. So we have to figure out soon. We’ll see,” he said.
