Jeremy Tyler out after falling short at TNT Katropa

JEREMY Tyler is the latest PBA Commissioner’s Cup import to be sent packing.

Citing the import failed to meet the team’s expectations, the TNT Katropa finally let go of the former NBA player following their 110-100 loss to the Alaska Aces last Sunday.

The Katropa are to face Blackwater Elite on Friday with a possible temporary import pending the availability of hulking 6-foot-10 Joshua Smith.

The 26-year-old Smith, who guided the team to the finals of this same conference last year, is still under contract with Kyoto Hannaryz in Japan.

Sheryl Reyes, the agent and representative of Tyler, announced on social media about the import having played his final game with the Katropa against the Aces.

Tyler’s performance in TnT first loss of the tournament against the Aces left a lot to be desired.

He did finish with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but failed to deliver when the TnT locals struggled against Alaska’s stingy defense.

In contrast, Alaska counterpart Antonio Campbell came through with 23 points and 20 rebounds.

Tyler is the fifth import to be replaced with the tournament still to reach its halfway point.

Among those earlier booted out were CJ Akien (Columbian Dyip), Adrian Forbes (NLEX), and Troy Gillenwater (San Miguel).

Magnolia’s Vernon Macklin is also on the way out after receiving a lucrative deal in China’s National Basketball League (NBL).
