Lee hopes to sustain form for Magnolia: ‘Sana next game maganda ulit gising ko’

PAUL Lee told in jest he woke up on the right side of the bed again as the reason for another sparkling performance in yet another Magnolia Pambansang Manok win in the PBA Governors Cup.

Lee banked in the winning basket as the Hotshots escaped with a 109-108 win over San Miguel Beer to move up in the standings Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The national team guard had seven of his team-high 28 points in the final quarter, none more pivotal than the soft side jumper he drained in the final 33 seconds that proved to be the marginal basket in the tightly-fought game marred by 17 lead changes and 10 deadlocks.

Lee also starred in Magnolia’s last win over Rain or Shine, 92-75, where he led the team again in scoring with 22 points.

“Siguro napaganda lang yung gising natin kanina,” he said in leading the Hotshots to back-to-back victories. “So sana next game, maganda ulit yung gising ko.”

But Lee, playing in only his third game back from national team duty, said he just took the shot after he found himself a bit open.

“Suwerte lang na-open tayo kasi nag-gamble yung import (Kevin Murphy), so nagkaroon ako ng kaunting space para matira ng maayos,” he said.

Lee was 11-of-20 from the field and had three rebounds in the all-important win which he believes would be a big lift for the Hotshots when the going gets tough in the standings heading into the stretch run of the elimination round.

“Ito yung mga team na 50-50 lang ang chance namin na manalo. So at least nakakuha na kami ng isa na. At yun nga kakailanganin namin ito,” he added.
