No complaints as Black admits Meralco simply outplayed by Ginebra

UNLIKE Game One, Meralco coach Norman Black has no complaints about how the game was called.

Black didn’t hold back the last time out when he felt that the Bolts didn’t get a fair shake, this time around – he’s giving all the credit to an in-form Ginebra squad.

“I will never complain about the officiating if my team didn’t play well. My team played well the last game, they didn’t play well tonight, so I cannot complain about the officials,” said Black after their 104-90 loss to Ginebra which sent them crashing out of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

“Ginebra outplayed us. They played a much better game tonight, they played as a team, they kept their turnovers down, they played good defense, so they were very deserving of this win tonight, that’s about it,” he added.

Now, all Black can do is to prepare for the upcoming Governor’s Cup where two-time PBA Best Import Allen Durham awaits them.

While Black knows exactly what Durham can do, he’s not being overly confident as he anticipates a good batch of imports coming in.

He’s sure of one thing though, they’ll be a whole lot better with him around.

“We know AD is a good player, so he’ll make us very competitive. I’m sure we’ll be a much faster team with him around, because this conference was a conference where we didn’t get up and down the floor very much,” Black said.

“I’m hoping that we can take advantage of the talents of guys like Baser [Amer] and [Chris] Newsome by speeding up the game a little bit,” he added. “We know that AD will control the rebounds, so that will give us the chance to get out and run. ”
