NorthPort dismantles Columbian to barge into PBA win column

ANTIPOLO – NorthPort finally claimed the elusive first win in the PBA Governors’ Cup after beating Columbian, 118-101, on Saturday at the Ynares Center.

Mo Tautuaa led an 8-0 run that broke a 93-93 tie in the fourth quarter as the Batang Pier finally ended their losing spell that spanned for six games.

After keeping the game close in the first three periods, the Dyip stayed winless after eight games after scoring only 10 points in the final period, most of which came when the outcome of the match was already settled.

“Law of averages eh. Six straight loss tapos tatlo doon, almost. Siguro it’s about time na ‘yung breaks of the game mapunta sa amin. Sabi ko na lang sa team, tignan na lang natin ‘yung mga positives,” said NorthPort coach Pido Jarencio.

Tautuaa had 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Stanley Pringle also came up big in the win, contributing 26 points and seven assists for NorthPort.

Sean Anthony also had big game, scoring 25 points and adding nine rebounds, five assists, and six steals for the Batang Pier. Anthony also hit a long two to give NorthPort a 101-93 lead, and was followed by a three for a 104-94 gap.
